Most people self drive to Lake Tahoe so if you have a car and want to experience Palisades at Tahoe or Northstar skiing on a budget, then you should consider using the authentic mountain town of Truckee as your base. It is an approx. 15-20 min. drive to Palisades and a 10 min. drive to Northstar. Or you can do it without a car..Fly to Reno and pick up the resort transfer approx. 1hr 10min and then bus it to Palisades for skiing. The bus runs hourly and takes approx. 25min but it is payable locally.On Sats & Suns Palisades at Tahoe Resort may run a free bus trip from Truckee early in the morning, returning back to Truckee at approx. 5.30pm.
