Sugarbush SKI RESORT
Sugarbush is located in the scenic Mad River Valley of Vermont. A genuine ski resort, with plenty for everyone - you'll find over 110 trails to keep you occupied..distinct New England charm and uncrowded slopes most of the time.
Sugarbush brings some of the flavour of western skiing to the East. The resort offers 111 trails of terrain for beginners, intermediates, and experts, spread across two mountains -Lincoln Peak and Mt. Ellen -with a chairlift and a shuttle bus that connect the two. Lincoln Peak Village offers many lodging and dining options, and also serves as home base for the Ski & Ride School and Rentals and Repair. Lincoln Peak offers extensive beginner terrain and lifts, as well as the legendary terrain of Castlerock Peak, whose narrow, steep, and winding trails offer seasoned experts a challenge and an old-time New England ski experience. Snowcat adventures? Get up early for First Tracks on the Lincoln Limo, take the family on a Sunset Groomer Ride, or book the limo for Remote Fireside Dining at Allyn’s Lodge.
Connected by the Slide Brook Express to Lincoln Peak, Mt. Ellen is the third-highest peak in Vermont. Mt. Ellen has steeps, wide-open cruisers, and some great intermediate terrain. The base area at Mt. Ellen is a no-frills experience with a classic lodge that’s home to the convivial Green Mountain Lounge. Mt. Ellen is where you’ll find the Riemergasse Terrain Park, designed with rails, tables, and jumps for all levels, and home to a series of events and competitions.
Whether at Mt. Ellen or Lincoln Peak, skiing in the trees is often the best way to find great snow. Twenty-eight marked areas provide beginner to advanced tree skiing, and the 2,000-acre Slide Brook Basin, tucked in between Lincoln Peak and Mt. Ellen, is an adventurer’s paradise. Guided trips are available with the legendary skier John Egan and the staff of the Adventure Learning Center’s Ski & Ride School.
Dining at Sugarbush Resort is an experience unto itself. Each restaurant serves fresh and artfully prepared culinary treats and incorporates locally raised meats and veggies and locally produced foods. Sugarbush’s culinary efforts are lead by Executive Chef Stephane Ohayon, whose talents you can taste throughout the resort.
THE SKIING IN Sugarbush SKI RESORT
With two mountains, three terrain parks, six peaks, sixteen lifts, nearly thirty wooded areas and the 2,000 acre Slide Brook Basin, there’s no question that Sugarbush is one of New England’s largest ski areas. Amenities include multiple base lodges, resort lodging, onsite restaurants, retail and rental shops, and more.
At the heart of Sugarbush is Lincoln Peak—think quintessential Vermont meets modern slopeside living. Here you’ll find the majority of Sugarbush terrain with classic New England trails leading to the nascent Lincoln Peak Village which includes Clay Brook slopeside hotel and residences, a general store, casual and elegant dining, and the new Schoolhouse and Farmhouse. The Schoolhouse is home base for all children’s day ski-and-ride programs, and The Farmhouse hosts Sugarbush’s acclaimed Ski & Ride School which includes the first-timer-to-life-timer program, private and group lessons, backcountry tours, bumps clinics and more.
Mt. Ellen’s casual feel speaks to the ski bum - but don’t let that fool you. Mt. Ellen is home to Vermont’s highest chairlift, a premier terrain park, Green Mountain Valley School's elite ski racing academy, is a designated U.S. Ski Team Development Site and is the northern Vermont location for Vermont Adaptive Ski and Sports. Mt. Ellen tends to be the local's favorite with a greater sense of old-school Vermont charm.
