ESPACE KILLY SKI AREA
Val d'Isere SKI RESORT
In the heart of the Savoie region in southwest France, Val d’Isère throws open its doors to the snow-laden Espace Killy ski area. Vald’Isère is an internationally renowned resort that has maintained its charm and authenticity and from November to May, the magic of winter envelops this genuine Alpine village that sits at an altitude of 1850 metres.
Val d’Isère blends the authentic architecture of a real Alpine village with the facilities and comfort of a big resort. The baroque church, traditional houses, murmurs of the Isère river and the surrounding environment have really inspired local architects. Luxury hotels, holiday residences, chalets built from stone and wood, altogether more contemporary, the variety is elegant; traditional and modern at the same time.
Aside from the skiing, in Val d’Isère you can try a whole host of other activities:
snowshoeing, dog sledding, snowmobiling
or karting, ice driving (with BMW) and even paragliding and ice climbing. You will be spoilt for choice! Val d’Isère even has its own ice rink in the centre of the village.
Skiers and non-skiers can enjoy unforgettable and exclusive experiences starting with the Folie Douce, the 1st open-air
“dancefloor” perched at an altitude of 2400m or even at a private party in a yurt with a champagne apéritif, Savoyard
fondue and to top it all off, a torchlit descent under the stars.
For your comfort and well-being there are no less than 10 spas ready to welcome you for some well-earned relaxation after a long day’s skiing or snowboarding.
Constantly evolving, Val d’Isère attracts a cosmopolitan clientele looking for a large choice of accommodation to suit all budgets. The resort offers 2- to 5-star hotels, luxury chalets with a swimming pool, spa and hotel services.
THE SKIING IN Val d'Isere SKI RESORT
The Val d’Isère ski area is not only legendary because of its exceptional setting but also because it is a place where ski legends are made. At the winter Olympics in 1968 for example, the resort watched its first stars emerge, the Goitschel sisters and Jean-Claude Killy who had grown up on these pistes. The career of the latter made such an impression on everyone that the resort was named the Espace Killy after him...
300kms of pistes, 1900m of vertical - you could claim “that says it all” but the Espace Killy is more than that.
Here, from 28 November to 1 May, a huge variety of talent and desire is revealed and nurtured on more than 150 pistes and endless off-piste… With two glaciers, two snowparks, 10,000 hectares of pure exhilaration in a ski area that hosted the Olympic Games and the World Championships, you are skiing on legendary snow.
Val d’Isère offers free beginner runs, a pedestrian pass for admiring the panoramic views from the peaks as well as cross country skiing and snowshoeing tracks up the mountain for those looking to get back to nature in the Vanoise National Park.
